The fastest time to climb all mountains over 8,000 m (26,246 ft) is 2 year and 168 days Nirmal “Nims” Purja (Nepal) between 23 April 2019 (Annapurna I) and 8 October 2021 (Dhaulagiri I). All climbs were made with supplementary oxygen.


Starting on 23 Apr 2019, adventurer Nirmal “Nims” Purja (UK, b. NPL) climbed all 14 mountains over 8,000 m (26,246 ft), finishing the slam in 2 years 168 days

Nims’s record breaking continues apace. On 15–16 May 2022, he logged the fastest climb of Everest and Lhotse*, taking just 25 hr 1 min. He had earlier climbed Kangchenjunga (7 May), which meant that he also recorded the fastest triple-header* (9 days) and the fastest to climb the higher 8,000ers twice (4 years 345 days, starting with Everest on 27 May 2017). Additionally, his ascent of K2 on 22 Jul made him the fastest to climb the three highest mountains*, achieved in just 76 days.
