Koichi Sugiyama (Japan, b. 11 April 1931) was aged 86 years 109 days, as of 29 July 2017, when Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (Square Enix, 2017) was released for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4 in Japan.
Although the music was the same for both the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4, Koichi Sugiyama created different arrangements for the two platforms.
He was commissioned to write music for Dragon Quest in 1986.
