daiquiri-attempting-record-most-socks-removed-in-one-minute

An Australian Shepherd named Daiquiri and his owner, Jennifer Fraser, travelled all the way from Canada to Milan, Italy, to get their 15 minutes of fame on the popular TV show Lo Show Dei Record.

Daiquiri is a dog of many talents, one of which is removing socks from people’s feet!

In fact, this aptitude won him a world record for the most socks removed by a dog in one minute, with the impressive number of 21.

But this isn’t the duo’s first time breaking a record. In fact, Jennifer and Daiquiri are serial record breakers, holding 12 record titles, including:

  • The most tricks performed by a dog in one minute - 60
  • The fastest time to walk 30 metres with a dog weaving through the legs - 13.55 seconds
  • The fastest time to complete five wall runs by a dog - 9.240 seconds
  • The fastest 30-meter dog recall - 17.54 seconds
  • The most clothes retrieved from a washing line by a dog in one minute – 18
  • The most toys retrieved by a dog in one minute – 15
  • The most weaves through a person's legs by a dog in 30 seconds – 37
  • The fastest time to walk 30 metres with a dog's paws on the feet – 42.03 seconds

Daiquiri and Jennifer entered the stage by putting on a show of impressive tricks and cute poses, instantly winning the audience’s hearts.

After the show was over, the Italian host Gerry Scotti welcomed them and asked Jennifer a few questions about Daiquiri and their relationship.

Daiquiri is seven years old, but still plays with the enthusiasm of a puppy. Jennifer’s passion for dogs was passed on to her by her grandmother, to whom she dedicates her and Daiquiri’s records.

When the time came to start the record attempt, 11 women entered the stage and sat lined up in chairs, all wearing socks for Daiquiri to remove.

In order for the attempt to be valid, Jennifer wasn’t allowed to touch Daiquiri, but she could command, guide and encourage him.

On the first try, Daiquiri successfully removed 20 socks, equalling the number that the previous record holders, Lilu and Briana from California, USA, had achieved almost a decade ago.

However, as they were allowed two more attempts, Jennifer and Daiquiri decided to try again in order to break that record.

Daiquiri kept his enthusiasm throughout the second try – here is how the second attempt went:

With a lot of motivation from Jennifer and the audience, and a little bit of luck, Daiquiri managed to break the current record by one sock.

Backstage, Jennifer told us: “I’m very proud of my boy, he did excellent!

That’s the first time he’s ever done it, so I’m so happy for him.

Before saying goodbye, they surprised us with one last trick… Daiquiri “held” the record certificate with his front paws!

We are sure this won't be the duo’s last record attempt, and we can’t wait to see what they will try next.
