At 9:15 p.m. local time (GMT 5 a.m.) on 2 May 2007, Daniel Byles and his mother Jan Meek (both UK) reached the magnetic North Pole (N 78° 35.724', W 104° 11.940') following a 24-day trek on foot and skis from Resolute Bay in Canada – a journey of around 560 km (350 miles).
