The fastest-selling PC videogame is Diablo III, with 3.5 million copies sold in the first 24 hours after launch, achieved by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. (USA), on 15 May 2012.
After 12 long years of waiting, gamers were chomping at the bit to get their hands on the sequel to Diablo II (Blizzard North, 2000). The 3.5 million copies sold doesn’t include the 1.2 million players who received the game for free as part of a World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion. With a grand total of 4.7 million players on day one, it became the biggest PC game launch ever.
