The carnivorous mammal with the strongest bite is the Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii). In tests, this large Australian marsupial has been shown to produce a bite force quotient of 181; by comparison, the tiger’s bite force quotient is 127, the lion’s is 112, and for the Himalayan black bear (Ursus thibetanus) a mere 44.
