In proportion to its body size, South Africa's long-snouted cycad weevil (Antliarhinus zamiae) has the longest snout of any beetle. Used for drilling holes in cycad seeds inside which the weevil can then lay its eggs, the snout is 2 cm (.79 in) long, whereas the rest of the weevil combined is only 3 cm (1.18 in) long.
