The largest sliding doors are a 67.46 m (221 ft 4 in) high, 26.95 m (88 ft 5 in) wide, 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) thick and weigh 400 tonnes (882,000 lb) each. A pair of the doors are fitted to the vehicle assembly building at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's (JAXA) Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima, Japan, which was completed on 30 September 1999. The doors were built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
