ASIMO, which stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, has been developed and refined by Honda (Japan) since 2000, as the latest in its series of prototype humanoid robots designed to one day help people. On 8 November 2011 Honda revealed the latest incarnation of ASIMO, which is lighter than previous models, at 48 kg, and has improved hand dexterity. ASIMO can now open bottles and pour drinks into cups. ASIMO can now also run at 9 kph, during which both of its feet are momentarily off the ground. It seems they just want to link up the ASIMO work with previous work including the E-series and P-series. ASIMO evolved from the E-series from 1986, and the subsequent P-series.
