The launch Pike, which was fitted with a battery powered electric motor by the Thames Electric Launch Company, covered a distance of 220.4 km (137 miles) in 30 hours on the River Thames between Wallingford, Oxon, and Goring, Berks, UK, between 20 and 21 August 2001. The journey was made on a single charge of the batteries and was non-stop.
