She claimed the record outright from Selena Gomez (four wins, in 2012, 2014-15 and 2017) at the 35th staging of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, USA, on 9 April 2022.
The most nominated female artist is Beyoncé, but only one of her 12 nominations between 2004 and 2021 has resulted in a win (2007). Taylor Swift equalled Beyoncé’s haul of nominations in 2022, with Gomez (10), Katy Perry (8) and Grande (7) next in line.
Grande was the first female artist to win as many as three and four consecutive awards in this category. Britney Spears (2000-01), Miley Cyrus (2008-09) and Gomez (2014-15) all managed two wins in succession.
