The truly spectacularly rich do not want to stay at merely the most expensive overall hotel in the world. They want a whole wing of a hotel, and they are, of course, lavishly catered for – at a price. The Royal Penthouse Suite at Geneva's Hotel President Wilson is the priciest hotel suite, as it can cost $83,200 a night for the privilege of enjoying 12 bedrooms and 12 marble bathrooms across 18,000 square feet (although it can be secured for a “mere” $65,000 a night). Bill Gates and Michael Douglas are among the ultra rich who have enjoyed the suite’s stunning vistas over the Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva. As the number of millionaires in the world grows and grows, hotel suites at this top end of the market are only likely to get larger and plusher.
