Team "OA Giants", comprising Bill Donnelly, Keith Garry, Chris Judge, Colin Lindsay, John McElroy and Dominic Mudge (all Ireland), swam from Islay in Scotland to the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland, UK, via the Oa Channel on 8-9 August 2020 in a time of 16 hours 57 minutes 43 seconds. The swim was ratified by the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association. They were piloted by Pádraig Mallon of Infinity Channel Swimming aboard the vessel Hirta.

This was also the first time that the Oa Channel had ever been successfully swam; the stretch of water is known for its strong currents where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Irish Sea, as well as powerful eddies around the Scottish islands.

Just the week before, during a practice swim, the same team set a speed record for crossing the traditional North Channel route between Gobbins in County Antrim to Portpatrick, Scotland, in a time of 9 hours 2 minutes 41 seconds.
