The largest collection of pisco bottles consists of 2,022 items and was achieved by Johnny Schuler (Peru) in Lima, Peru, on 30 August 2022.
Johnny Schuler started his pisco bottles collection 35 years ago, after being invited to judge in a Pisco Tasting competition in the late 1980s.
He was overwhelmed and surprised at the quality and aromatic expression of Pisco. This awakened his interest and soon he became a dedicated “psychologist”!
Through time, Johnny has written several books about Pisco. He has also hosted his own TV program called "Por las Rutas del Pisco con Johnny Schuler", which aired for 8 years in Peru and several other countries.
"I began to amass a huge number of bottles, mostly for tasting and evaluating, and of course for personal enjoyment", he said.
Finding that Johnny did have quite a good amount of unopened bottles, he began to classify them. "This is what triggered my interest to attempt the Guinness World Record!".
He hired Miss Lesly Mallqui several years ago, to begin the process of cataloguing his collection. With patience and time, they developed a spreadsheet for this purpose!
