The greatest distance relay underwater swimming in 24 hours with breath held (team) is 98.02 km (60.91 mi) and was achieved by Michaela Werner, Jarrod Briffa, Bill Cotis, Adam Bryant, Jack Hatfield, Daron Joseph (all Australia), Ethan Ruixing Wang (China), Kathryn Nevatt (New Zealand), and Matej Majling (Slovakia), in Sydney, Australia, on 23 November 2025.
A team of nine free divers worked in relay for 24 hours, completing 3918 laps of a 25.02 m pool. Each lap was performed on a single breath and without fins.
The team prepared for the challenge with months of physical training, also working on breath-hold conditioning and team coordination.
The attempt raised funds to support swimming opportunities for children with disabilities and impairments. They hoped for the event to push human limits whilst also having a positive impact beyond the record achievement.
