In its quest to boldly go where no multiplayer game had gone before, Star Trek: Online (Cryptic Studios, 2010) was the first MMO to offer space and ground battles upon launch. Previous games such as Star Wars: Galaxies introduced space-based with its later expansions, but Star Trek: Online set an ambitious milestone by offering both from day one.

The game was launched on 2 February 2010 and is still active.
