Based on evidence such as the Turin Canon, aka the Turin King List (a papyrus ledger of Ancient Egyptian rulers), the Sixth Dynasty pharaoh Phiops II, also known as Pepi II or Neferkare, took power circa 2281 BCE at six years of age and reigned for around 94 years.

This also makes Pepi II a contender for the longest reigning monarch of all time.

Owing to limited contemporary evidence and conflicting data, Egyptologists hotly contest the duration of Pepi II's reign. One camp, citing the Turin Canon, argues that it lasted around 94 years, while another suggests it was more likely circa 64 years, owing to the fact that references to the pharaoh all but disappear after his mid-60s. Other historians still suggest he was in power for something between these two spans.
