The oldest winner of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament (ACPT) is Doug "The Iceman" Hoylman (USA, 2 July 1943–2 November 2015), who was 56 years 284 days old when he took home the first prize on 12 March 2000 in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. This was Hoylman's sixth win – at the time, the most wins in the ACPT.
Hoylman graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a master's degree in mathematics, and was known as The Iceman owing to his cool character.
