Factoring in all films made by studios that sit under the aegis of the Walt Disney Company, the Disney movie to have grossed the most money at the worldwide box office is Avengers: Endgame (2019). The fourth and final instalment in the successful Marvel Avengers series, Endgame had earned $2,797,800,564 (£2,054,530,000) as of 6 October 2021, according to The Numbers.

This makes Avengers: Endgame the second-highest-grossing film at the cinema of all time, not adjusted for inflation. For more than a year, it held the outright top spot, but it was superseded by sci-fi smash hit Avatar (2009) after a re-release bumped up its total income to $2,845,899,541 (£2,089,850,000).

The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel Studios in 2009; this is one of several high-profile additions to its movie-making portfolio including Pixar (2006) and Lucasfilm (2012).

The highest-grossing film made by a non-acquired home-grown Disney studio is the 2019 remake of The Lion King, co-produced by Walt Disney Pictures, which has taken $1,654,367,425 (£1,214,860,000) to date.
