Largest single meal eaten by a lizard
Who
Komodo dragon Varanus komodoensis
What
41 kilogram(s)
Where
Indonesia (Komodo Island)
When
The largest fully-confirmed single meal eaten by a lizard was a 41-kg wild pig, which was consumed in a single sitting by a Komodo dragon Varanus komodoensis. As this particular individual only weighed 46 kg prior to eating the pig, the gargantuan meal thereby almost doubled the lizard's total body weight upon consumption. Although Komodo dragons are primarily carrion feeders, they are known to attack and kill live creatures too – sometimes very big ones – and even humans on occasions (both local villagers and visiting tourists!).
