Legendary Mexican Lucha Libre wrestler El Santo (1917–1984) starred as himself in no less than 50 action/adventure movies produced over a period of 24 years, beginning with Santo contra el cerebro del mal (Santo vs. the Evil Brain) in 1958, and concluding shortly before the wrestler’s retirement with Santo en la furia de los karatekas (Santo and the Fury of the Karate Experts) in 1982.
