The best selling MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) videogame is World of Warcraft (Blizzard Entertainment, 2004), which across its various expansions has sold at least 40.6 million copies, as of 22 November 2023. This total includes sales for the Shadowlands expansion, which sold more than 3.7 million copies on its launch day in November 2020, but not for the most recent expansion, Dragonflight, for which updated sales figures have not yet been released.

World of Warcraft's 19-year tenure has seen many players come and go as the game changed and updated, even leading to the introduction of WoW Classic on 26 August, 2019 - where players can play the game exactly as it was in 2004.

The game peaked in 2010 when it had 12 million subscribers, as reported by Blizzard Entertainment on 5 May 2012.
