Highest-living ungulate

The Siberian ibex (Capra sibirica) lives at higher altitudes than any other ungulate (hoofed animal) – at up to 6,700 metres (21,981 feet) above sea level on steep slopes and alpine meadows in the Himalayas. Nearby, on the Tibetan Plateau, the wild yak (Bos mutus) is found at elevations up to 6,100 metres (20,013 feet), making it the highest-living bovine.
