Green bean casserole is a classic Thanksgiving staple.
Though it appears on several tables for the annual American holiday, Green Giant decided to take this year’s festivities to the next level by cooking up a 637 lb dish.
After gathering at Stella 34 Trattoria, Macy’s Herald Square restaurant in New York, culinary experts used the kitchen to whip up the Largest green bean casserole.
In total, the gigantic casserole was made using 780 cans of Green Giant Cut Green Beans, 53 cans of mushroom soup, 32 quarts of milk and 65 lbs of French fried onions.
In light of the giving season, the entire casserole was divided up and donated to Citymeals on Wheels, a non-profit organization in New York which prepares and delivers meals for the city’s homebound elderly.
This delicious record attempt took place just a week prior to the 91st Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which happens to hold the title for the Largest inflatable parade.
