Mark your diaries - it's almost that time of year again! GWR Day, a global celebration of all things superlative this year takes place on November 15.

The annual event, which commemorates the day in 2004 when Guinness World Records became the world's bestselling copyright book, sees thousands of people all over the world attempt to secure a prestigious world records title during a 24 hour period.

Any records set on Guinness World Records day are short-listed for inclusion in next year's edition of the book and you too can be part of the global celebration.

The Largest Hula Hoop workout consisted of 221 students from Longleaf Elementary School (USA) in New Port Richey, Florida.

Largest 3D painting
The largest 3D painting measured 1160.45m² and was created by Joe Hill of 3D Joe and Max, in partnership with Reebok Crossfit, at West India Quay in London, UK. The measurement of the painting was taken by Ardent Management.

The largest human star consisted of 326 participants, and was achieved by Rachel Kingstone and Make-A-Wish® Canada, in Toronto, Canada.

The largest Soul Train dance consisted of 211 participants and was achieved by Berkeley High School students, staff and alumni (all USA), in Berkeley, California, USA.

The largest rag doll measuring 9 meters was achieved by the students of the Textile Institute (ISTA)(France) in Mulhouse, France.


Largest gathering of people dressed as leprechauns
The largest gathering of people dressed as leprechauns was 262 leprechauns who gathering at Canal Theatre, Dublin as part of The Mooney Show on RTE1.

The most chin ups in one hour is 993 by Stephen Hyland (UK) in Stoneleigh, Surrey, UK.


Oldest Yoga Instructor
The oldest yoga teacher is Bernice Mary Bates (USA, b. 30 June 1920) who remains an active yoga teacher at the age of 91 years old, and was presented at the Mainlands Retirement Community Center in Pinellas Park, Florida.


The tallest basketball player
The tallest basketball player (current) is Paul "Tiny" Sturgess (b. 25 Nov 1987, UK), who measured 231.8 cm (7 ft 7.26 in) in London, UK.


Largest tea bag
The largest tea bag weighs 120 kg and measures 2.4m x 2.4m created by All About Tea and displayed on HMS Warrior, Portsmouth, UK.


Largest cream tea party
The largest cream tea party consisted of 334 people and was achieved by The English Cream Tea Company at Parklands Wedding Venue, Quendon in Essex. The record attempt raised money for the Alzheimers Society and The Fragile X Society


Tallest Tower
The tallest tower is the Tokyo Sky Tree, formerly known as New Tokyo Tower, which rises 634 m (2,080 ft) to the top of the mast and is located in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan. The construction is a broadcasting, restaurant and observation tower and is due for completion in late 2011.


Largest Stamp
The largest stamp is in excess of 600 mm (1 ft 11 in) x 493 mm (1 ft 7 in) and was achieved by Ecole de Dessin (Nigeria) in Isolo, Nigeria, subject to verification.

The largest collection of model cars is 27,777 and was achieved by Nabil Karam (Lebanon) in Rabieh, Lebanon.

The farthest Champagne cork spitting is 7 m 10 cm and was achieved by Alastair Galpin (New Zealand) in Auckland, New Zealand, subject to verification.


Largest Photo Mosaic
The largest photo mosaic measuring 1,562.39 m² ( 16,817.30 ft²) and containing 137,200 individual photographs was achieved by Smile-one Taichi Matsumoto in Nagoya, Japan.


Fastest motorized shopping trolley
The fastest motorized shopping trolley achieved a speed of 42.8746 mph (69 km/h) and was created by Tesco. The record was achieved at Tesco Hatfield, Herts, UK.

The largest Zumba class is 1439 and was achieved by Teylingen-college (Netherlands) Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands.

The team was made up of Kelly Tong, Rachel Henderson, Kelane Henderson, Sam Eads, Kirsty MacDonald, Hayley Taylor, Leanne Pollard and Emma Robson (all UK) and the attempt took place at the First News offices in London, UK
