The Brief

Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR) handles regional planning and infrastructure projects in the eponymous German region. Its campaign “City of Cities” aims to position Ruhr as innovative business location. To enhance this changing image, RVR needed a PR activation for the annual B2B startup conference RuhrSummit.

The Solution

RVR’s agency TAS Emotional Marketing GmbH organised the longest business pitch marathon at the RuhrSummit in Bochum, a city famous for mining and steel production but also for its history and culture. Startups and entrepreneurs participated in the record attempt by presenting their ideas to selected investors. Over 75 firms registered for the pitch marathon, showcasing new ideas and becoming part of the innovative Ruhr community. All business pitches were streamed live, allowing presenters not only to impress investors, but also to get media exposure. The marathon ran for 29 hours.

Thanks to the cooperation between the Ruhr Metropolis, Guinness World Records and the RuhrSummit, we were able to offer an exceptional stage to create business ideas. The world record is proof of the development of a new start-up culture in Ruhr, which makes us one of the most important start-up hotspots in Germany.
