BTS (South Korea) can add three more records to their existing Guinness World Records titles.

The boy band collected three new social media records during the last month, making it even more clear that their influence spans far beyond the world of music.

Music sensations, ambassadors of numerous global collaborations (the most recent with game developers Garena Free Fire) and serial record-holders, BTS and their ARMY continue to prove that they are a force to be reckoned with in online spaces.

Here's the three newest records that have been broken by BTS.

Most followers on Instagram for a music group

BTS can officially boast the record for most followers on Instagram for a music group.

As of February 2022, they reached 60,151,959 followers on the popular social media platform.

With this new follower count, the septet has surpassed their own record previously set in April 2021; at the time, the world-conquering band had broken the record with the staggering number of 40,220,226 enthusiastic followers.

However, more records were smashed when the individual members of the South Korean act joined Instagram during the winter of 2021.

In December 2021, BTS' V secured two world records in a little over five hours.

With the support of BTS' ever-loyal ARMY, V (stage name of the singer and songwriter Kim Tae-hyung) first gained the record title for the fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Instagram (achieved in just 43 minutes).

Shortly after, he reached the fastest time to reach 10 million followers on Instagram (4 hr 52 min).

Most followers on TikTok for a music group

Ever since the pandemic, more and more public personalities, groups and brands have joined the TikTok-mania, connecting with fans through short, snappy videos.

BTS snatched a new record whilst joining the social network, adding most followers on TikTok for a music group to their over 20 existing record titles.

The Bangtan Boys, and more specifically their official account @bts_official_bighit, are officially the most followed music group on the app, counting 45.7 million fans.

In 2019, shortly after announcing their TikTok account, BTS also claimed the record for the fastest time to reach one million followers on TikTok.

Moreover, the band places 16th among the platform's overall most popular accounts (excluding TikTok's own account).

Most followers on Twitter for a music group

BTS also further confirmed their popularity on the blue bird app by being the most followed music act on Twitter.

With 44,167,059 followers, @BTS_twt is the account with most followers on Twitter for a music group in the history of the platform.

Previously, the title had been achieved and re-confirmed several times by British boyband One Direction, with the last record being set at 31,747,631 followers in 2017.

However, this is not the only Twitter record BTS hold.

The septet and their ARMY also registered a total number of 422,228 engagements on 29 April 2019, accumulating two world records:

  • Most Twitter engagements (average retweets) for a music group
  • Most Twitter engagements (average retweets)

These new social media records have been achieved thanks to BTS' fans and the enthusiastic, close relationship the South Korean boyband nurtures with them.

As much as constantly sold-out merch, their global hits and sold out stadiums during world tours, the support and engagement of their fanbase online continues to ensure BTS' success across multiple touchpoints.

Stay tuned as these probably won't be the only records BTS break in 2022.
