The oldest person to win a "double cap" in international rugby, by playing in both codes, is Thomas Calnan (b. 22 Oct 1976) aged 36 years 50 days when he made his debut for the UAE Rugby Union side against Hong Kong in Dubai, UAE on 11 December 2012. He had previously represented the UAE Rugby League side in a match against Pakistan on 30 March 2012. Both matches are fully recognized international test matches - the Rugby League match against Pakistan was a friendly while the Rugby Union match against Hong Kong was an IRB-sanctioned tournament EACON (Emirates Airlines Cup of Nations). Calnan was playing his club rugby for Abu Dhabi Harlequins RFC when he won his double cap.
