Akshar Yoga continues its mission of promoting yoga through several world records

Over the years, Akshar Yoga Kendraa (India) has been bringing the art of yoga to the masses, breaking incredible records.

The educational organization founded by Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, holds a dear mission of spreading love, peace and harmony to all.

In total, Akshar Yoga have broken 21 different Guinness World Records titles.

Akshar Yoga teaches yoga format across many different organizations including schools and universities.

They also frequently collaborates with World Yoga Organisation and Shree Mahaprabhu Jagannath Sangh (all India) on their attempts.

For four consecutive years, the organization has marked International Yoga Day through large-scale record-breaking yoga demonstrations.

These record attempts focus on synchronized group performances, expanding each year in both scale and diversity of yogic practices.

Every year the spectacle gets bigger and bigger as Hinalayan Siddhaa Akshar ji and his team organize multiple world records attempts a day.

And it's all to give yoga a wider platform while celebrating and highlighting human strength, spirit and well-being.

His events take place annually during International Yoga Day to amplify this message.

Their mission touches thousands of people worldwide through Akshar Yoga's membership programme in both India and abroad.

The attempts bring people from all walks of life together and their 2024 attempt featured people from 20 different countries.

During one memorable event in 2025, Akshar Yoga successfully broke 12 different Guinness World Records titles in a single day!

Thousands of participants took part in the attempt with some as young as four to those approaching their 80s.

The last three attempts proved to be the most challenging amongst participants, however they pushed through and persevered.

Due to the number of participants, two Guinness World Records Adjudicators Mbali Nkosi and Swapnil Dangarikar were on hand to verify the results.

The record attempts happened in quick succession over the day and were successful on their first go!

  • The most people performing the mermaid pose (yoga) simultaneously with 863
  • The most people performing the locust pose (yoga) simultaneously with 539

  • The most people performing a shoulder stand simultaneously with 1,633
  • The most people performing the butterfly/gracious/ Bhadrasana pose simultaneously with 550 
  • The most people performing the double toe hold pose (yoga) simultaneously with 461
  • The most people performing the pistol squat pose (yoga) simultaneously with 514 
  • The most people performing the chair pose (yoga) simultaneously with 1,695
  • The most people performing a Warrior II (yoga) pose simultaneously with 1,634 
  • The most people performing a Warrior III (yoga) pose simultaneously with 529 

These achievements reflect a clear desire to make sure yoga can benefit as many people as possible, all while keeping true to the nature of yoga, displaying depth, discipline and precision.

This summer, Akshar Yoga plan their most ambitious project to date, attempting 21 yoga related record attempts.
