MASSIV, the tallest water coaster and Kilimanjaro the tallest water slide

Celebrate some fun in the sun for National Waterpark Day!

This day is observed annually on July 28th in the United States by the whole family, especially kids and young adults. Waterparks have something for everyone, from water slides, to water coasters, to fun water-themed activities.

Below are some of the most amazing water slide and water coasters that hold record titles across the globe.

Longest inner tube water slide

ESCAPE, an outdoor theme park, hidden among a forest hillside in Penang, Malaysia, holds the record title for the longest inner tube / mat water slide. This inner tube zig zags for 1,111 m (3,645 ft 0.1 in) and lasts for a full three minutes when the joy of most water slides end in less than 30 seconds.

Tallest water coaster

The tallest water coaster is MASSIV at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Water Park (USA), which is 24.86 m (81 ft 6.72 in) tall, and situated in Galveston, Texas, USA. Only the brave are able to climb up the 123-step staircase to take on the tallest water coaster. MASSIV was built in celebration of Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Water Park’s 10-year anniversary since opening.

There are significant differences between a traditional water slide and a water coaster. A traditional water slide pumps water at the top of the slide then relies on the drops and angles to amp up the thrill and speed, whereas a water coaster uses technology to propel you up a hill similar to a roller coaster.
