A dog is sitting next to a Guinness World Records certificate

Meet Macho - this talented dog has been training his speed for more than a year and now he’s a record holder for the fastest time for a dog to run the bases on a baseball field.

Macho successfully attempted this record at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California (USA).

His speedy event was sponsored by LUCY PET FOODS, a pet food company focused on nutritional balance and lifelong enrichment.

Macho, a Jack Russell Terrier, raced across the bases in a time of 21.06 seconds, easily surpassing the previous record of 24 seconds.

Although Macho aced the attempt on the first try, his owner, Lori Signs, made it clear that a huge amount of time went into his training.

In order to qualify his attempt, Macho had to go fully around each base.

To avoid all shortcuts, Signs added balloons to the bases to motivate Macho to follow the correct path.

As an avid lover of balloons, this made Macho’s job much easier.

Upon returning home, Signs gifted Macho a grand feast for his hard work.

"He hit a grand slam home run. It was amazing. I am so proud" -  Macho's owner, Lori Signs

LUCY PET FOODS smashed this record-breaking title, however, they’re no stranger breaking records.

In 2017, the company also broke the record for the longest and heaviest single chassis float ever in parade history.

Who knows what record they’ll break next, but for now, our eyes are focused on Macho.

With his pace, he might want to consider joining a professional baseball team one day!
