16-year-old Chloe Chambers became a world record holder on Friday 21st August, with the support of Porsche Cars North America.

She set the new benchmark pace of 47.45-second run behind the wheel of a 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder, successfully breaking the record title for fastest vehicle slalom.

With seven years of kart-racing experience, Chambers had to quickly adapt to driving a car.

To break the record title for the fastest vehicle slalom, Chambers had to reach the fastest time to drive around 50 cones spaced 15.05 metres apart in less than 48.11 seconds.

“It looks easy, but it’s really not – to weave between 50 cones as fast as possible, trying to beat a record time and knowing I couldn’t touch a single one for the run to count – I definitely felt the pressure. I got into the rhythm of it on my final run, the car worked beautifully and I found the grip I needed. Thank you to my family and to Porsche for supporting and for believing in me.”

After multiple hours of training in the 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder, Chloe came up extremely close during her practice attempts and was finally able to break the existing record title.

I just got a Guinness World Records title for the fastest vehicular slalom! I had to race between fifty cones spaced fifty feet apart over a 2500 foot distance. It required speed, but the true test was of precision and endurance. My official record stands at 47.45 seconds, which I set in the amazing Porsche 718 Spyder. This journey tested my mental and physical strength…but the hardest part was returning the keys at the end!! I really appreciate the opportunity and am super proud, not only of myself, but of my team, which includes my coach, Nic Jonsson, my family, and my agent, Suzanne Shriver, who have been there every step of the way. I’d also like to thank Porsche for believing in me! Check out the link in my bio to see the video! 🏎💨

The first sign of emotion came when her father let her know she had taken the record.

“Oh thank goodness!” she exclaimed, jumping out of the car for a hug.

“It was a great learning experience for me,” she grinned afterwards.

“I’m super-happy with everyone’s effort and help in achieving our goal. It was a fun week, required a lot of focus and patience, and I’m grateful for the amazing opportunity.”

Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America said:

“We couldn’t be more proud that Chloe set the record title, from the whole Porsche family we send our heartfelt congratulations – we’re pleased to have been able to support Chloe with her ambitious record attempt and share her relief that it was successful.”

Chambers beat the previous record title set in China by racing driver Jia Qiang's. He achieved the fastest vehicle slalom in a time of 48.114 seconds in Shaoguan, Guangdong, China, on 16 December 2018.
