10-year-old fashion designer returns to record books as youngest to release a fabric line
At the age of four-years-old, Max Alexander (USA) told his parents that he wanted to be a dressmaker. Three years later, he became the youngest person to design a runway show, and in early 2026 he unveiled an incredible sustainable collection at Paris Fashion Week.
Nevertheless, neither Max nor his sewing machine are slowing down – and this week, the talented designer returned to the record books, after becoming the youngest person to release a fabric/textile line at the age of 10 years and 196 days.

Surrounded by colourful bolts of fabric and giant racks of textiles, Max unveiled his work with Mood Fabrics in front of an enthusiastic crowd of fashion-lovers on 14 September in the Garment District in New York City, New York, USA.
He draped the new designs over mannequins and explained their environmentally-friendly backgrounds, and took on a fun new record attempt for the fastest time to thread a sewing machine (automatic). Finishing easily in just 10.16 seconds, he claimed his fourth Guinness World Records title in front of Adjudicator Michael Empric, and celebrated his status as a GWR Young Achiever with his spread in Guinness World Records 2027.

“Max is absolutely one of a kind, and his energy, talent and personality were incredible,” said Michael. “At times I felt like I was doing an improv comedy routine… which made for a really unique experience!”

Max first made a name for himself in 2023, after displaying his collection at Denver Fashion Week at the incredible age of seven years and 266 days old. With his creative and colourful designs – primarily made up of sustainable materials such as upcycled shopping bags and coffee bean sacks – his mom helped him achieve international reach on his popular social media pages @Couture.To.The.Max.
From there, he launched his own clothing brand and dressed various celebrities, was featured in a documentary at Tribeca Film Festival, and claimed his third record in March after becoming the youngest runway show designer at Paris Fashion Week – all before starting the fifth grade.

Throughout the years, Max has said that he draws inspiration from sustainable sources, and his social pages are filled with shots of him turning everyday materials into inventive dresses. He explained to Reuters that his favourite part of fashion was that you can make clothing out of absolutely anything, allowing for endless creativity.
“You can make a dress out of pickles. You can make a dress out of spoons. You can make a dress out of hangers,” he said. “It's, like, crazy.”

As such, it comes to no surprise that his textile line with Mood Fabrics also incorporated his creative and sustainable flair – and as influencers, and fashion-industry insiders (including Max’s “fashion fairy godmother” Fern Mallis) wandered around the store, they could see how just how contagious his passion is.

Mood Fabrics helped him create a line full of fuzzy fabrics, expressive animal prints, and even fluid, satin-looking prints made from recycled polyester.

And because he’s always eager to put his skills to the test, Max agreed to attempt another new Guinness World Records title at the event itself, threading a sewing machine in record-breaking time to take his fourth title.

According to Adjudicator Michael, a highlight of the day was when he presented Max with his Guinness World Records medal after the attempt, causing him to exclaim: “this is awesome, because I can wear this to school!”
Clearly – the kid has good taste.
