Roar-some! 804 people in dinosaur outfits smash record – and reduce a town to tears
The streets of Vernal in Utah turned prehistoric on 28 August 2026, when 804 costumed dinosaurs officially smashed the Guinness World Records title for the largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs. It was sweet revenge – the town had attempted the same record in 2025 and fallen agonizingly short. This time, it was a resounding success.
But it was what happened next that truly broke people. Organizers asked every single dinosaur to roar... not in celebration, but in tribute to those fighting cancer, including a young girl standing among the crowd. In Vernal, a roar means "I love you" in dinosaur, so no surprise that there wasn't a dry eye in the valley that day.

The citizens of Vernal were just some of the 21 million people who took part in a successful record attempt that month. Find out more about the benefits of harnessing People Power.
