When it comes to giant LEGO sets, it doesn’t get much more iconic than this famous fictional aircraft.

Lukas Herrscher (Germany) has claimed the record for fastest time to build the LEGO® Star Wars 75192 Millennium Falcon™ with a speedy time of 7 hr 27 min 9 sec.

His attempt in Baldham, Bavaria on 11 July outdid the previous record of 7 hr 36 min 37 sec set by Ivan Yu (Canada) in 2023.

This timelapse video shows just how impressive the build was…

The set, which retails at £734.99 ($849.99), is made up of 7,541 pieces.

Lukas, 17, first got the idea to attempt the record after seeing a video of the previous record on our YouTube channel and thinking, “I could beat it”.

Lukas, who works in the hotel industry, is a huge fan of LEGO and didn’t let the fact that he’d never built this set before intimidate him.

Starting off by unpacking the gigantic box, he laid the numbered bags out in order and worked his way through the instruction booklet as quickly as his fingers could move.

Lukas pushed on for as long as he could, only stopping once for a toilet break and few times to take a drink during the almost seven-and-a-half hours of his record attempt.

Bending over a table building LEGO for that long can be a little uncomfortable, but Lukas overcame the pain by getting a massage afterwards.

“It’s really hard to build that long,” Lukas told us.

Despite breaking the record, Lukas admits he thinks he could have done it even faster.

“I made mistakes,” he confessed.

When it comes to techniques to get his time down, Lukas said he’d keep an eye out for bits that needed to be built the same way and do them all at the same time rather than one after the other.

This wasn’t his first big LEGO build, having already taken on the Death Star and Venator, also from Star Wars.

He’s not ruling out attempting any more records in the future, but isn’t sure what it’ll be just yet.
