Our Guinness World Records Adjudicators have been given a snazzy new makeover!

The iconic figures who you’ve seen all over TV, the Guinness World Records books, and maybe even in person at a record attempt, were given a brand new uniform as part of our 70th anniversary celebrations.

Here, Brand Manager Jack Brockbank, who also happens to be a long-serving Adjudicator, tells us all about it…

Q: After a decade with the previous uniform, the new Guinness World Records Adjudicator uniform has been unveiled. Congratulations! What prompted the decision to redesign such an iconic piece of clothing?

JB: Thank you! The Adjudicator uniform is a powerful symbol of credibility, celebration, and achievement. After 10 years, we felt it was time to reflect how the organization has evolved – embracing diversity, sustainability, and a more contemporary style – while maintaining the authority and timelessness that GWR is known for.

Q: The Adjudicator is the face of Guinness World Records at record attempts around the globe. What role did this redesign play in reinforcing the image of the Adjudicator?

JB:  The new design strikes a balance between professionalism and practicality. Our Adjudicators travel the world to witness outstanding achievements in all climates and situations. We wanted every Adjudicator to feel both proud and comfortable when representing us on the world stage, whether they’re judging the largest parade of camels or the fastest car on ice.

Q: Sustainability is increasingly important across industries, including fashion. Was that a factor in the redesign?

JB: Absolutely. We collaborated with eco-conscious suppliers to ensure responsible sourcing and fabrication. This even came down to the recyclable packaging that the uniforms were supplied in, and the recycling of our old uniforms using an environmentally friendly textile recycling service.

Q: The previous uniform became instantly recognizable globally. Was there pressure to retain certain signature elements?

JB: Definitely. The blue jacket, the crisp shirt, and the ceremonial style are part of our visual DNA. Our goal wasn’t to reinvent the wheel but to evolve it - to take familiar elements and reinterpret them with contemporary craftsmanship and subtle innovation.

Q: How involved were GWR Adjudicators themselves in shaping the new look?

JB: Very involved! We ran workshops and surveys to gather feedback on comfort, practicality, and confidence. Their input was invaluable - from the fit and weather adaptability to pocket placement for paperwork and timing devices. That’s also why we introduced the new Adjudicator waistcoat. Our Adjudicators in warmer climates asked for an alternative option to the jacket, which can be impractical in some parts of the world for working in the heat of the day. This new uniform really was designed for Adjudicators, involving them at every step.

Q: Beyond aesthetics, what message does this new uniform send to those attempting records?

JB: We want every record challenger to feel that moment of validation when they see the Adjudicator arrive - that sense of gravitas and celebration. The uniform communicates fairness, precision, and honour. It represents the global benchmark of achievement, and now it does so in a way that feels fresh and forward-looking.

Q: Finally, what does this redesign symbolize for the brand’s future?

JB: It symbolizes progress. Guinness World Records continues to evolve with the world - embracing change while respecting its heritage. The new Adjudicator uniform reflects that balance: it’s a tribute to our legacy and a confident stride into the next chapter of record-breaking history.
