Hundreds of one-humped camels take part in parade celebrating Kazakhstan’s agriculture
2025 is the year of the workers in Kazakhstan, a celebration of the manual work and effort that keeps the country ticking.
Daulet-Beket LLP (Kazakhstan) wanted to celebrate the hardworking farmers who play a vital part in the country’s agriculture.
To do this, the camel-breeding and camel milk enterprise hosted the largest parade of one-humped camels.
A total of 252 camels walked in the parade, beating the minimum requirement of 200.
The company is owned by married couple Sydyk and Sharipa Davletov.
Mr Davletov has a deep connection to camels. He’s a fifth-generation camel farmer and has a special love and passion for the animal. He says this record belongs to his ancestors as much as him.

According to Daulet-Beket LLP, camels are sacred animals in Kazakh culture, supporting nomadic life for centuries, providing transportation, milk, meat and wool.
Today, they are just as important to rural communities having adapted to Kazakhstan’s dry climate.
The event took place in Akshi village, home to Mr Davletov’s camel farms.
A route was marked with a start and finish line, and all camels were led out of their pens to walk one kilometre.

The camels were led by a mix of herdsmen and local volunteers from nearby villages.
Camels can be difficult animals, and the ones taking part were selected based on age and temperament to ensure participants could join the parade safely.
A manual clicker was used to count the camels, and stewards kept a watchful eye across the route to make sure they all crossed the finish line.

Training the camels came to be the biggest challenge, with many rehearsals held to help them walk together in a straight line.
The record acts as a reminder to Kazakhstanis of the important part camels play in the country’s agricultural and cultural heritage.
As Mr Davletov puts it: “A camel provides transport, food, drink, and even clothing — a truly versatile animal that deserves renewed appreciation and respect.”
“If you are to raise animals, raise camels — their benefits are boundless.”— Sydyk Davletov, Founder of Daulet-Beket LLP
Earlier this year, Kazakhstan also claimed the record for the largest gathering of people wearing traditional Kazakh clothing.
