Each year, ABC’s morning talk show Live with Kelly and Mark celebrates the launch of the new Guinness World Records book by hosting a string of spectacular record attempts over the course of a week.

Record Breaker Week came back with a bang this year, marking the release of our 70th-anniversary edition Guinness World Records 2025 with four records set in front of the live studio audience.

Official Adjudicator Michael Empric was on set all week to oversee the record attempts, which featured familiar faces such a serial record breaker David Rush, talented dog Daiquiri and his owner Jennifer, Live regular guest "Science Bob", and even two of the show’s producers.

Monday saw David Rush, who broke a record during last year’s Record Breaker Week, attempt the most balloons burst with boxing gloves in one minute.

David already set this record earlier this year with 327 balloons burst, but he was confident he could improve upon it.

After Mark had a go at punching a few balloons – demonstrating that it’s not as easy as it looks – David stepped up for his official attempt.

Following 60 seconds of frantic boxing, David far surpassed his previous record, popping a total of 600 balloons and missing just 28.

On Wednesday, Live producer Jim Niebler (who has set two GWR titles in the past) and executive producer Michael Gelman (who officially has the most television credits as Producer for a morning talk show) attempted a record together: the most golf balls picked up with feet while sitting in one minute (team of two).

With Michael benefitting from years of yoga experience, the pair breezed past the target of 20 and set a world record with 33 golf balls moved.

Dog trainer Jennifer Fraser and her talented Australian Shepherd, Daiquiri, stole the show on Thursday, breaking their own record for the most socks removed by a dog in one minute.

After chatting with Kelly and Mark and demonstrating a few tricks, Jennifer and Daiquiri got down to business.

With 12 shoeless Live staffers lined up in a row, Daiquiri pulled their socks off with his mouth as fast as possible.

Incredibly, he managed to remove all 24 socks with time to spare, completing the challenge in 53 seconds and surpassing the previous record of 21.

Capping off an incredible week of record breaking, Bob Pflugfelder aka “Science Bob”, who holds multiple GWR titles and is a regular guest on the show, led an attempt for the most simultaneous Bernoulli’s principle toilet paper launchers activated.

This record is measured by the number of Bernoulli's principle toilet paper launchers successfully activated – whereby air is blown across the top of toilet paper, causing it to lift up according to Bernoulli's principle which states that the pressure of a liquid (in this case, air) falls as its velocity increases.

“It’s essentially a roll of toilet paper on a leaf blower, which unfurls when the leaf blower is turned on,” Adjudicator Michael Empric explained.

Science Bob has conducted many on-air experiments on Live before, but this one was extra special because it was a send-off for Art Moore, the retiring ABC executive who has overseen the show since 1989.

After a 3-2-1 countdown, the 101 participants – comprised of audience members and ABC staff who were there to celebrate Art – activated their leaf blowers and covered the studio in toilet paper, which Adjudicator Michael said was “hanging from nearly every light, fixture, and the studio balcony.”

One person failed to turn on their launcher within the required five-second window, so they were removed from the final count, however, the remaining 100 participants were more than enough to officially set the record. Each of them received a certificate of participation afterwards.

With four Guinness World Records titles achieved, each attempt as impressive as the one before it, this year’s Record Breaker Week has arguably been the best one yet.

We’re unsure how it can possibly be bettered next year, but we are sure that David, Daiquiri, Jennifer and Science Bob are already plotting their next superlative stunts!
