TikTok chefs Nick DiGiovanni (USA) and Lynn Davis (Japan) have secured their third Guinness World Records title.
Nick and Lynn (better known as Lynja) have broken the record for the most fast food restaurants visited in 24 hours with a total of 69, a feat they achieved in New York City, New York, USA on 10 August 2022.
Their most recent attempt took place in Manhattan and took roughly 7 hours and 15 minutes. The journey was approximately 8 miles (12.87 km) long, all travelled by foot. Also in attendance was Guinness World Records adjudicator Andrew Glass, to ensure all guidelines were adhered to during the attempt, as well as a small film crew.
The day started at 8:30 am EDT at the famous McDonalds in Times Square, where the duo ordered a McGriddle breakfast sandwich. Breakfast is, after all, the most important meal of the day!
Fuelled up for their day of frequenting fast food restaurants, they sped around midtown Manhattan to tick off as many as possible. The most frequently visited stores were McDonalds, Starbucks and Dunkin' Doughnuts. The other restaurants they visited included:
- Taco Bell
- Shake Shack
- Burger King
- Five Guys
The guidelines stipulate that at least one food or drink item must be purchased and consumed at each location. However, it doesn’t need to be consumed only by those attempting the record. Therefore, while Nick and Lynja did eat their fair share of the fare, food was also bought for people in line, given to people experiencing homelessness, or eaten by the film crew.
"The key to getting this record, it feels like, is getting those areas where you can hit a couple [of restaurants] at a time," said Nick. The duo hit the jackpot with a mall food court that had a whole host of fast food eateries.
"Some highlights included buying meals for fans that recognized them and giving out boxes of free donuts in front of a Krispy Kreme," shared adjudicator Andrew Glass.
The team did however get stuck in an elevator at the 34th street Macy’s!
Nick in particular was really excited to achieve the record title and afterwards stated his goal of obtaining more food-related Guinness World Record titles than anyone else.
Nick and Lynja are YouTube and TikTok food influencers. Nick is a chef who was a former finalist on MasterChef, while Lynja started recording funny cooking videos with her son Tim during the pandemic. Combined they have over 20 million followers on TikTok.
