The Brief
Optiv (USA), an information security company, was looking for a way to create an unforgettable experience for their employees.
The company wanted to surprise attendees to Optiv Kick Off 2023, their annual event, with a hands-on activity that was both entertaining and engaging for everyone.
The Solution
Optiv decided to attempt the Guinness World Records title for largest basketball sentence as a fun way to bring the surprise factor to their event.
About 950 Optiv employees attended and had the opportunity to participate in the Official Attempt.
The activity took place as part of a larger team trivia, with one of the tasks being placing basketballs in the sentence.
As a result, Optiv achieved the record with an impressive 1,145 balls as verified by a Guinness World Records Adjudicator in Aurora, Colorado, USA, on 21 February 2023.
The basketball sentence spelled out "We Rise," which was the theme of this year's event.
The basketballs were donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver, which serves 23K kids annually ages 5-18, providing access to hours of empowering programming and support.

Through a variety of games and challenges, we have the opportunity to learn about our peers and what makes them tick when it comes to community impact. At the 2023 Optiv Kick Off, we brought the fun and biggest challenge to date to 1,000 employees and set the Guinness World Records title for largest basketball sentence, donating all 1,145 basketballs to the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver.
