Texas is now home to a sweet new record for the Longest ice-cream dessert.

Thousands of volunteers gathered at the Spirit of Texas festival in Wolf Pen Creek last Saturday to whip up a dessert that stretched 1,386.62 m (4,549 ft 3.36 in), only 200 m short of a being a mile long!

The giant sundae was comprised of 500 gallons of H-E-B Texan Tackle Crackle ice-cream (a flavour that’s made with vanilla ice-cream and candy crunch chocolate swirl).

It was then topped with 300 gallons of chocolate and strawberry syrup, 2,000 cans of whipped cream, 25 pounds of sprinkles, and 20,000 cherries!

Guinness World Records adjudicator Christina Conlon was present to ensure that the mouthwatering indulgence met proper guidelines, and that all ingredients connected throughout the line of dessert.

Upon officially receiving their record certificate, the massive sundae was devoured in under 30 minutes by more than 4,000 festival attendees.

The Spirit of Texas Festival supports the local charity community in the town of College Station, Texas.

While many know the state of Texas to do things “big” the Spirit of Texas Festival is certainly no different, especially when it comes to food.

In fact, they achieved the record for the Largest serving of chili con carne last year, which amounted to 2,177.24 kg (4,800 lb)!
