Multinational consumer goods company Procter & Gamble (P&G) successfully attempted a new Guinness World Records title at the World Trade Center in Manila, Philippines to celebrate and promote their Joy washing up liquid, in partnership with supermarket chain Puregold.

Taking place at P&G’s annual Christmas event for entrepreneurs and brands called VIPuring Convention, 300 guests achieved the record for the Most people washing dishes simultaneously, using Joy dishwashing liquid.

To welcome in the new year, the participants washed a staggering total of 2017 plates - which were required by Guinness World Records to be dirty and to have been used to serve a hot meal.

Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar was on hand to officiate the fun team challenge.

Shreyas Subbaraya, Head of Shopper Marketing, P&G Philippines was thrilled to achieve the record: “We are overjoyed and elated to be conferred the Guinness World Records title for most people washing dishes simultaneously! It was an amazing show of teamwork this afternoon: a lot of immaculate planning and coordination and of course a deep desire to win went into making this record possible.”

A few local celebrities were in attendance, including actors Luis Manzano and Gerald Anderson and singers Jaya and Jose Mari Chan, who performed to the new record holders following the triumphant attempt.

This is not the first time that P&G have entered the record books with the help of Joy washing up detergent. In Malaysia in 2013, the brand achieved the world’s longest line of washed plates with a total of 26,213 dishes.
