The oldest male to complete a marathon on each continent is Robert Rebello (USA), who ran his final marathon at the Antarctica Marathon on 28 February 2011, aged 74 years 281 days. Robert began his attempt by running the Boston Marathon on 19 April 2004. He then proceeded to run the Sydney Marathon in 2005 (Australasia), Bangkok Marathon in 2006 (Asia), Buenos Aires Marathon in 2007 (South America), Stockholm Marathon in 2009 (Europe), Cape Town Marathon in 2010 (Africa), before completing the Antarctica Marathon in 2011. This was part of a series of challenges Robert set himself after he lost his brother John to cancer in 1999. His efforts have seen him raise thousands of dollars for kidney cancer research in memory of his brother.
