Australia won their sixth 50-over Cricket World Cup on 19 November 2023, defeating the previously unbeaten tournament hosts India in front of more than 100,000 fans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.

Australia claimed their first title in 1987, before compiling a hat-trick of wins in 1999, 2003 and 2007 and securing a fifth title in 2015.

In the 13 editions of the men’s Cricket World Cup to date, only the West Indies (1975 and 1979) and India (1983 and 2011) have won the tournament more than once.

In 2023, Australia were the first "away" team to win the Cricket World Cup since 2007, when they won the fourth of their six trophies in the West Indies.
