The tallest tomatillo plant (Physalis philadelphica) measured 3.529 m (11 ft 6.9 in) when assessed at the CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championships, held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, Worcestershire, UK, on 23 September 2023. It was grown by Kevin Fortey, Gareth Fortey, Marjorie Fortey and Jamie Courtney-Fortey (all UK) in Cwmbran, Gwent, UK.


This is one of several horticultural records set by the Fortey family, who currently also hold records for the heaviest beetroot (23.995 kg; 52 lb 14 oz, set in 2019) and the heaviest sunflower head (6.446 kg; 14 lb 3.5 oz, set in 2022).
