Sankruth Sriram (India), 15, smashed 486 not out for JSS International School against Hebron School in Nilgiris District Cricket Association's inter-school tournament in Ooty (aka Ootacamund or Udhagamandalam), Tamil Nadu, India, on 3 November 2014. The batsman's historic innings took 160 balls and featured 23 sixes and 46 fours. Sankruth and opening partner Dhanush Priyan (70 not out) amassed 605 without loss in 40 overs and won the match by 563 runs when Hebron School were dismissed for 42 runs in 15 overs.

Remarkably, Sankruth and Dhanush's unbeaten stand of 605 runs (49 extras made up the formidable total) failed to beat the world record for a limited-overs match in minor cricket – that was 721 runs, also in India, in 2006.

The previous record for an individual innings was held by Wayne Killian (UK), who blasted 408 runs for Offchurch vs. Ashby Road Hinckley in Coventry in 1994.

Sankruth attended the Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy in Bangalore before being sent to JSS International School as a boarder, ironically in the hope that he would concentrate less on cricket and more on his studies!
