It's always an exciting time at Guinness World Records and 2023 was no different.

From the heaviest to the largest, we've seen it all!

Here are only a few of those world records broken in 2023.

Longest underwater kiss

On Valentine's Day, couple Beth Neale (South Africa) and Miles Cloutier (Canada) celebrated the occasion by claiming the record for longest underwater kiss.

The couple kissed for a total of 4 minutes and 6 seconds beneath the water in an infinity pool.

Miles described their record-breaking feat as ‘the hero’s journey of a breath hold’, admitting that he found it difficult from the off.

Most dogs attending a film screening

Paramount Pictures (USA) invited 219 dogs to attend a special screening of the film PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie earning the record title for most dogs attending a film screening.

The dogs also had the chance to grace the red carpet serving the most pawsome looks.

Organizers say all the dogs were incredibly well-behaved and that seeing all the smiling faces and wagging tails in the audience was a “special moment”.

Heaviest radish

This year saw the heaviest radish unveiled in Japan, weighing a whopping 45.865 kg (101 lbs).

The record-breaking radish, grown by Manda Fermentation Co., is nearly 15 kg (33 lbs) heavier than the previous record set by Manabu Ono (also Japan) in 2003.

The radish used for the record attempt is a cross between a Sakurajima radish and a Taibyo-Sobutori radish, which usually weigh 1-2 kg (2.2-4.4 lbs) and 6 kg (13.2 lbs) respectively.

WILDFANG, Darcelle XV, & Eden Dawn (all USA) teamed up to stage the longest drag artist stage show, lasting 48 hr 11 min 30 sec.

The Drag-a-thon took place at Darcelle XV in Portland,Oregon, USA while also paying tribute to the oldest drag queen, Walter W. Cole, aka “Darcelle XV.

The event took a stand against attacks on drag from right-wing politicians and raised $306,000 for the Trevor Project, a non-profit organization focused on suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth.

Largest LED sculpture of a mammal

A Largest LED sculpture of a mammal was created by Dubai Parks and Resorts (UAE) in October measuring 17.99 m (H 6.69 m x L 8.22 x W 3.07).

The number to beat was 16.4 meters and a camel was chosen to represent the culture and beauty of United Arab Emirates.

This is the second Guinness World Records title for the entertainment park and they hope the sculpture will attract more visitors.

Most couples married in 12 hours

2,143 couples tied the knot during a mass wedding ceremony in Baran, Rajasthan, India setting the record for most couples married in 12 hours.

Both Hindu and Muslim marriages were conducted during the event.

It was organised by Shri Mahaveer Goshala Kalyan Sansthan, a registered trust committed to "serving the marginalized sections of society". Their goal was to help underprivileged members of the public get married.

Are you brave enough to walk across the world's largest glass floor observation platform in China?

The platform measures an incredible 716.09 m² (7,707 ft² 133.71 in²) and was achieved by Henan Baoquan Tourism Co.Ltd (China)

Situated in Ya Tian Xia section of the resort, it officially opened to the public in April of this year boasting incredible scenery.

Last but not least, we have the delicious dress by SweetyCakes (Switzerland) who created the largest wearable cake dress (supported) weighing in at an extraordinary 131.15 kg (289 lb 13 oz).

The attempt took place during the Swiss World Wedding Fair, with spectators and exhibitors showcasing the best of the wedding industry.

As Guinness World Records' guidelines stipulate that the food cannot go to waste, the cake was shared with guests of the fair at the booth.

The remaining cake was given out for free the next day at their flagship shop.
