The oldest gold medallist in an individual event at a Winter Olympic Games is Ole Einar Bjorndalen (Norway, b. 27 January 1974), who was aged 40 years 12 days when he won the 10-km sprint event in the Biathlon in Sochi, Russia, on 8 February 2014. By winning this gold medal Ole Einar Bjorndalen also equalled the record for the most medals won at the Winter Olympics.
