The newest species of amphibian to be scientifically recognized is Botsford's leaf-litter frog Leptolalax botsfordi, which was formally described and named in late 2013. It was discovered in the high elevations of Vietnam's Mount Fansipan, the tallest mountain in Indochina, and was named after amphibian diversity researcher Christopher Botsford.
