The America's Cup is a yacht race held between two yacht clubs – the defender (of the trophy) and the challenger. The first trophy was won in 1851, making this the oldest international yacht race. The inaugural winners, the New York Yacht Club, have won the trophy 25 times while fellow American yacht clubs San Diego (3) and Golden Gate (2) have also won the trophy. The other winners of the trophy are Royal Perth Yacht Club (Australia) and two-time winners Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (New Zealand) and Société Nautique de Genève (Switzerland).
